Over 100 People Turn Up For Orchard House Viewing

The City of Salmon Arm held an Open House at the controversial Orchard House property on Saturday.

Council has considered knocking down the building for future recreation purposes, but many contend that it should be saved due to its historical significance.

Mayor Nancy Cooper has details on how many locals came to take a look around on Saturday "There were 120 people that came out, and we thought that was very significant. We really appreciated people coming out and taking a look at it."

Cooper says that Council should have all the information it needs to make a decision by the end of this month "The decision on this will come to Council on March 27th."

The Mayor says that opinions from Saturday's event were about 50/50, with a slight sway towards those who say that saving the structure should not be the responsibility of local tax-payers.
