Salmon Arm RCMP are warning locals against buying jewelry in parking lots.

Police say that there have been two recent cases where people have bought fake gold - leaving them out hundreds of dollars.

Staff Sergeant Scott West says if it's too good to be true.. it is "You're buying something that's fake, but you're paying good dollars for it on the back-end, and you'll find that you've been defrauded of your money."

He also has a few details on the most recent case like this in Salmon Arm, saying "A black SUV was alleged to be involved, and we're following up in an attempt to identify who these individuals are."

Police say that anyone approached to buy jewelry in a parking lot should politely decline, and then call them.
