Province Issues Tips On Sandbag Removal

The B.C Government is advising Interior residents of how to dispose of their sandbags, as some areas are starting to see the depletion of high-water levels.

A Wednesday release says that any sandbags that have come in contact with floodwaters may be contaminated.

You're advised to follow the instruction of local authorities, and to avoid disposing of any contaminated sand in areas such as lakes, rivers, beaches, and parks, as well as sandboxes and playgrounds.

Anyone handling contaminated sandbags should also use gloves, wash their hands afterwards, and avoid getting any sand in open wounds.
