Quick Action Brings 100% Containment At Kault Hill Fire

It's been a Summer of wildfires across B.C, and Sunday saw that reality hit close to Salmon Arm.

Crews were out on Sunday morning fighting a fire in the Kault Hill area - West of Salmon Arm - near Tappen.

That fire sparked between Highway One and Shuswap Lake, near the rail-line.

CSRD Fire Services Coordinator Sean Coubrough has info on the initial response "The Tappen-Sunnybrae Fire Department responded, and they ended up having 10 members on scene - two tenders and an engine. When they got there they realized it was a larger problem than one Department could deal with, so they requested mutual aid assistance from the Salmon Arm Fire Department, and the Shuswap Fire Department."

He says that air support from provincial fire staff was quick, and aggressive, with a number of planes in the sky "I believe they had four working at one time, plus a helicopter."

Coubrough says that the cause of that fire is still unkown "My understanding is that they have sent an investigator out to take a look, but I've yet to hear back as to what the cause of that fire was."

The Kamloops Fire Centre confirmed again on Tuesday morning that the fire is 100% contained.
