RCMP Believe Missing Plane Has Finally Been Found

A small plane missing in the mountains near Revelstoke since November of 2017 appears to have been found.

An RCMP release says that the white and burgundy Mooney M20D was spotted from the air on Monday.

Constable Spencer Lainchbury in Golden has more on the discovery, saying "A BC Ambulance Service helicopter was flying back to Kamloops from a collision in Field, and spotted the wreckage of a plane believed to be the one missing from November of 2017."

There had been a nine day search for the plane and its two occupants, Dominic Neron and Ashley Bourgeault, last year, after the plane failed to reach Edmonton from its departure site in Penticton.

Lainchbury also has info on where exactly it was located, saying "It's just East of Revelstoke, in Glacier National Park."

Investigators are now doing their best to access that site, with Lainchbury saying "The site of the crash is being assessed to conduct an investigation on behalf of the B.C Coroner's Service."

We expect to hear more on this file within the next few days as investigators reach the wreckage.
