Rockslide West Of Field Keeps Highway One Closed
Parks Canada has released more details on the Monday night rockslide in Yoho National Park.
A Wednesday email says that two contractors were drilling holes for explosives when the slide occurred.
Highway One traffic has been diverted around the site 16km's West of Field since the 10,000 cubic metres of rock and debris came down.
An email from Parks says that the two workers involved were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and that Parks Canada is wishing them a speedy recovery.
Staff with Parks have so far refused interview requests related to the slide.
An update provided at Noon on Wednesday said that Highway One is not likely to re-open prior to late Thursday afternoon.
