Salmon Arm Home Takes Heavy Damage In Morning Fire

Salmon Arm’s Fire Department was on the job this morning.

Crews were called out around 6AM for a residential structure fire in the 4700 block of 10th avenue NE.

Fire Chief Brad Shirley says crews found heavy fire and smoke upon arrival "Crews did a great job of knocking the fire down defensively, followed by an interior search - as we weren't 100% sure if the structure was occupied or not. We determined that fortunately no one was home at the time of the fire."

He says the interior of the home was badly damaged, and that the insurance company will have to determine if the home can restored.

The cause of that fire is not yet known, and the investigation is ongoing.

No fire staff were injured in the call that lasted just over three hours time.
