Seven Animal Calls Over Three Days For Salmon Arm RCMP
It's bear season in Salmon Arm
RCMP Staff Sergeant Scott West says it's been a busy week for bear reports "In the last day or so we've received four or five calls in reference to either one of two bears that have made themselves at home in interface areas."
As for who to call when you spot a bear nearby, West says "If an animal is behaving aggressively then yes you should call us, if it's just wandering through then don't approach them - they're wild animals and you can report them to the Conservation Service."
The provincial RAPP line is 1 877 952-7277.
West says that Salmon Arm locals are also being asked to manage bear attractants around their homes "Bears have a taste for bird feeders and hummingbird feeders, and make sure you don't leave dog food or cat food or any other pet food outside of our residences."
