Sicamous Council Backs Main Street Bridge Option - With Conditions
Council for the District of Sicamous has backed an option for the replacement of the RW Bruhn Bridge.
A release says that Council supports the idea of a new Main Street bridge, which would go along with the Ministry's proposed idea of a new four-lane bridge for Highway One.
Council's support comes with a number of conditions, such as the Ministry of Transportation handling maintenance and construction costs for the Main Street span, as well as the protection of Splastin cultural heritage, and a connection from the bridge pathway to the rail trail.
The Ministry has yet to decide on what plan it wants to proceed with.
A survey done earlier this year showed that the majority of local respondants prefered the idea of a new five-lane bridge on Highway One over the idea that Council has decided to support.
