Skiers Rescued From Avalanche Scene In Glacier National Park
A rescue operation for a group of skiers in Glacier National Park on Tuesday.
Parks Spokesperson Shelley Bird has details, saying "It was a party of three that were involved in an avalanche incident. One was completely buried, one was partially buried."
Another nearby group phoned for assistance, and Parks Canada sent in its Visitor Safety Team.
Bird says that those affected were prepared "The take-home message for sure is that the party was well prepared. They had the proper equipment to self-rescue, they knew how to use it, and they acted quickly. The outcome was thankfully positive."
A report from Avalanche Canada's Mountain Information Network says that the person who was fully buried suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was flown to hospital.
