Sledders Airlifted From Sicamous Area On New Year's Day

Three sledders missing near Sicamous were rescued on New Year's Day.

Search efforts had begun on New Year's Eve.

John Schut with Shuswap Search and Rescue tells us that the trio were found in good health, saying "They were fine. They had built a fire and looked after themselves overnight."

Shuswap Search and Rescue staff were supported by a number of other agencies, according to Schut "Vernon Search and Rescue was there, Revelstoke Search and Rescue, CASARA - which is civil-air search and rescue, and of course the Eagle Valley Snowmobile Club."

Schut tells us that the missing sledders spent their night in a drainage area behind the Owl's Head Cabin.

That group was eventually airlifted from the area.
