Tax Season Brings Another Warning Of CRA Scammers
RCMP in Salmon Arm are again reminding the public about ongoing Canada Revenue scams.
Staff Sergeant Scott West says that tax season has brought about more phone and email based CRA scams.
That means another reminder about how to avoid those scammers "The Canada Revenue Service employs a lot of professional people, and those professional people who work for the Canadian government do not threaten to arrest you over the phone, they do not ask for payment in any kind of gift-card, they don't swear at people, and they don't ask to meet you in a convenience store parking lot to be paid in cash."
West says that CRA uses direct deposit, meaning they already have your banking info, and don't need to confirm it.
He also notes that CRA scam emails are becoming more sophisticated, and to simply delete them.
