Todd Stone's Leadership Campaign Makes Early SA Stop

Salmon Arm's Prestige Hotel played host to Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Todd Stone on Wednesday.

Stone announced earlier this week that he's running for the leadership of B.C's Liberal Party.

He says that Highway issues were top of mind from supporters who turned out in Salmon Arm.

Stone says that he felt the clear need to run for the leadership position "Watching the NDP and the Greens do what they've done to the province in just the three months period that they've been in power - the decision I made at the end of the day was that I cannot sit on the sidelines and just be a bystander."

As for Highway projects and how they'll be handled by the New Democrats, Stone says he's hoping that new Transportation Minister Claire Trevena wont get in the way of years of planning he put in as the leader of that Ministry "These are projects that are ready to go to tender - their ready to move to the next stage and get on with construction, so I would say to Minister Trevena - if nothing else - to stay out of the way of these much-needed Highway projects in and near the Salmon Arm area."

The vote on who will take over as the new Liberal Party leader will be coming in February.
