Tourists Rescued After Four Days Lost In Back-Country

Golden RCMP say that two tourists from Spain were rescued on Sunday, after four days lost in the back-country.

Police were contacted on Sunday morning when the two visitors failed to check out of their accomodations at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

Search and Rescue was then called, and was able to locate the pair a short time later from a helicopter.

The 41 year old male and 43 year old female had mistakenly entered a back-country area, and became lost.

Police say that both of those subjects were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries related to exposure.

The RCMP are using this file as a reminder to outdoor enthusiasts about the importance of always letting someone know when you should be expected back from an outing.
