Transport Canada Pulls 31 Non-Compliant Buoys From Shuswap

A number of non-compliant buoys have been removed from Shuswap Lake in recent weeks.

It was the result of a number of complaints to various levels of government.

The CSRD says that Transport Canada removed eight buoys in the Sorrento area, one near Copper Island, along with 22 buoys and one derelict dock near Blind Bay.

Non-compliant buoys had been tagged in June, to give owners time to fix them up.

One removed buoy was kept floating by the engine-block of an old car.

Further buoy enforcement on the Shuswap is planned for 2019.
