Two Shuswap Connections From Men's Olympic Hockey Roster

Hockey Canada revealed the roster for its Men's Olympic team earlier today.

That list contains two Shuswap connections, with one being Vernon native and former SilverBack Andrew Ebbett.

Ebbett was a SilverBack for one season, amassing 84 points over 60 games in 2001-2002.

The other is Chay Genoway, who's father Bob is the General Manager at Hyde Mountain Golf Course in Sicamous.

Bob says that he's very happy to see such success for his son, who's spent the past four seasons in Russia's KHL "I'm very proud of Chay, and I'm very, very happy for him. He's worked very hard, and for this to happen to him is incredible. Very, very exciting."

He says there will be no viewing party at his home, because he'll be busy "I'm going to end up going over there and watching it live, I figure it's a once in a lifetime experience, so."

Bob also notes that Chay is about to take part in the KHL's All-Star Game, which is this Saturday

Chay Genoway was a Vernon Viper for one season way back in 2005-2006.

The Men's team plays its opening game on Thursday, February 15th, at 4AM Pacific time.
