Aftermath of Hurricane Harvey Being Felt at Northwest B.C. Pumps
The northwest is starting to feel the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey at the pumps.
Gas prices in Prince Rupert were around a $1.08/L at the beginning of the week, but recently shot up 18 cents to sit around a $1.26/L -- just in time for the long weekend.
This comes after Hurricane Harvey roared through Texas -- the nerve centre of North America's gas industry.
Experts say Canadian fuel prices are rising by more than those in the U-S because Canada doesn't have enough supplies of domestic fuel, so is more sensitive to shortages from closed refineries along the Gulf of Mexico.
Some experts are predicting it will still be a few weeks before prices go back to normal.
