Firefighters Camp for a Cause in Kitimat

Firefighters in Kitimat are organizing a rooftop campout and boot drive this week to raise awareness and funds in support of Muscular Dystrophy in Canada.

Organizer Cameron Kelso says that the event is quickly becoming a tradition across Canada.

"The rooftop campout started in 2005 in Edmonton. Firefighters have been supporting muscular
dystrophy since the 50's, but this is kind of a new idea that has kind of taken hold in the past few years."

The fire department will host a family barbeque event on Saturday, and the firefighters will be camped out
on the roof from Thursday at 11:00am until Sunday at noon.

The money raised will go towards enhancing the lives of those affected with neuromuscular disorders in Canada.
