41st Annual Seafest Kicks Off Friday
Put on your eye patches and grab your swords, because Prince Rupert's 41st annual Seafest "Happy Pirates of the Pacific" is right around the corner.
The Prince Rupert Special Events Society has put together an action packed weekend of food, games, and entertainment starting at 10 AM on Friday.
For the athletes, contact the special events society by tomorrow to join in the 20th annual Jim Ciccone Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament or enter one of the other tournaments of soccer, hockey, volleyball and slo-pitch.
Those with creative hands can join in the Sea Cadet Cardboard Boat Rigatta, try the mosaic stepping stone workshop, or participate in the 6th annual Fast and Furious Art Attack.
Food lovers can enjoy a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, check out the CHSS Dessert Theatre, and relax at the Wheelhouse charity beer garden.
Also happening this weekend is Dr. Von Houligan's Carnival of Calamities, the Sailpast and Flypast, face painting, yoga, canoe tours, and of course, the Seafest Parade. Downtown streets will close to vehicles on Saturday morning with the parade set to start at 11 AM.
If you'd rather watch the parade on the big screen and from the comfort of your own home, CFTK TV is making that happen broadcasting the parade live on Saturday morning with hosts Robert Pictou and Mike Nagle. And if you miss it, we are rebroadcasting the parade Sunday morning at 11AM.
Special Events Society President, Bev Killbery is all smiles when talking about the family festival, saying what she loves most is watching the community all together.
"We just have people meet each other. You walk up and down 3rd and you can't get from one end to the other without running into people you know, and you sit and chat, and yeah. I think that's my favourite part about Seafest, is it brings the whole community together."
