Avalanche Hazard Rising in Northwest Thanks to Weekend Storm

The weekend snowstorm has sent the Avalanche risk soaring in the northwest backcountry.

Avalanche Canada says the hazard rating is "HIGH" at all elevations of the Coastal Zone, and skiers and snowmobilers are advised to avoid avalanche terrain today, since a large natural avalanche cycle is expected.

For the Northwest Inland, the hazard is "CONSIDERABLE" to "HIGH".

The centre's website predicts warm stormy weather will elevate the danger today.

Very conservative terrain choices or professional-level training are recommended for any travel in avalanche terrain.
