Federal NDP Leader to Visit Northwest Next Week

Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen says he wants to give his party leader a first-hand look at the lifestyles and culture -- and the immense size -- of northwest BC.

Cullen will be hosting federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh in a three-day visit to the riding next week.

Singh will arrive in Smithers next Monday and spend most of that day in the community -- including handing out free ice cream at a public gathering -- before driving to Hazelton for a series of meetings that evening.

On Tuesday, Cullen and Singh will travel to the Nass Valley and Terrace for more meetings and some sight-seeing.

Singh wraps up his northwest visit on Wednesday with a morning stop in Kitimat and then finishing the day in Prince Rupert, where he'll meet with constituents and take a boat tour of the harbour.  He'll also be scooping up more free ice cream for the public.

Cullen says the two will be covering a lot of territory, but he notes that travel is a reality of my job in a 330,000-square kilometer region; it's important for Singh to see this part of rural representation.
