Herb Pond wins B.C. Liberal North Coast nomination
Former Prince Rupert mayor, Lax Kw’alaams band administrator, and community advocate Herb Pond has been selected by local party members as the BC Liberal candidate for North Coast in the upcoming provincial election.
With over 200 votes cast, Pond defeated Rodney Proskiw for the spot and will take on incumbent NDP MLA Jennifer Rice for the North Coast riding when voters go to the polls May 9th.
Pond says he wants to be the voice of reason for the North Coast—hoping to bring a sense of opportunity and hope.
“…that can connect with people that we can find really respectful and responsible ways to get to a yes. More than anything else I want to bring jobs to this region. In addition to what we can do to bring jobs here we have to carry our message out and make sure that people when they are making decisions that affect us hear from us and hear loudly our point of view,” says Pond.
Pond says he appreciates all that supported him and everyone that was involved in the process.
