Monster Truck Tour Coming To Terrace in July
For the first time in two decades, Terrace will host a Monster Truck Rally this summer.
The famous "Malicious Monster Truck Tour" roars into town on July 13th and 14th, for two shows at the Northwest Regional Airport.
Organizer Steve Pereira says he's been working on the idea for several years -- but the biggest obstacle was convincing the tour to include Terrace in its itinerary, due to the city's remote location.
But this year, he was able to piggy-back onto a visit by the tour to Prince George the weekend before, and now it's all coming together.
"It's the first time in 20 years that we are finally bringing back an event of this magnitude, we approached Carman Hendry at the Northwest Regional Airport, we pitched the idea to him, he loved it, and so we started working on this project a year ago, just getting all the groundwork for the event," he said.
Pereira says the show will take place on a course set up near the Terrace Drag racing site by the airport.
Because it's not a regular sporting facility, it was necessary to arrange for bleachers and fencing at the site.
Tickets for the event go on sale Monday May 7 at several locations:
-- in Terrace at: Prevost RV and Marine, Misty River Books, CFTK Studios;
-- in Kitimat at Pyramid Office supplies;
-- in Prince Rupert at MacCarthy GM;
-- in Smithers at Outdoor Essentials.
