One Man Dead, Another Arrested After Single-vehicle Crash in Smithers

A 22-year-old man may be facing charges, after a single-vehicle crash in Smithers over the weekend, which killed a 21-year-old Prince George resident.

RCMP say the victim was thrown from the car, after it veered off Railway Avenue just before 11 o'clock Saturday night and rolled several times.

A second passenger in the vehicle was slightly hurt.

Police say the driver allegedly fled the scene on foot, but was tracked down a short time later and arrested by a police dog service unit.

Smithers Staff Sergeant Rob Mitchell says a number of serious Criminal Code offences are under investigation.
