Prince Rupert Council Approves a 6.9-Million Dollar Project

Prince Rupert Councillor's voted unanimously last night to award phase 1 of the Shawatlan Raw Water Pipeline Project to Kledo Construction.

The 6.9-million dollar project's first phase will replace the water pipelines and build an access road up to the water dam-which Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain says will commence after the snowy season.

"The timeline will be about 145 days- so this year that is to be completed. We've had applications in for phase 2 and phase 3, which is to replace the dam itself as well as the submarine lines into the province at the moment," says Brain.

The City should hear back with respect to funding applications for Phase 2 and 3 this year, and Brain says he looks forward to the completion of the project.
