Rupertite Wins Car from MacCarthy GM
It was as easy as entering his name, number, address and repair order number online to win a brand new 2017 Buick Verano from General Motors of Canada Company.
A wealth of entries were submitted, however it was Prince Rupert resident Romano Barazzuol who drove off in his new car as he took part in a Canada-wide promotion that took place last fall through GM Certified Service called Service with a Win.
“I just brought my little Sonic in for a little service, had a little engine light and it was like a 77-dollar bill and the girl just asked me if I wanted to have my name put into the contest and I said, it doesn’t cost anything, sure why not?” said Barazzuol.
And it was history from there. Winner Romano Barazzuol says he feels elated.
“It’s been two months since they’ve told me and I still can’t believe it,” said Barazzuol.
Any service customer had the opportunity to enter the contest—with the chance to win a portion of their billed paid by GM or a new car—Barazzuol was skeptical, but chose the latter.
“Honestly when they first phoned me I thought it was one of these scams where they wanted to get your visa number and send them some money. It took a couple of emails and couple of phone calls for me to actually believe I won a car,” said Barazzuol.
General Manager Kevin MacCarthy says he wanted Rupert customers have a shot at winning the contest.
“So to have customers, and a GM customer win one of our products through a GM promotion in Prince Rupert BC was fantastic!” said MacCarthy.
Barazzuol says the biggest prize he’s ever won was 10-dollars on a 6/49 ticket.
“Usually it’s my brother that’s the lucky one that wins all these little prizes and things, but I think this is more than all the one’s he’s won added all up together,” said Barazzuol.
“Next time you see we’re having some sort of contest like this don’t count yourself out because you live in a small town, come on down and get an entry in,” said MacCarthy.
