Terrace Midget Reps Win Gold -- on Home Ice!!

The Terrace Kermodes are Provincial Midget Tier Three Hockey Champions.

Terrace edged Port Alberni 4-3 in the championship final before a packed house at the Terrace Sportsplex last night.

Terrace jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead, and led 4-2 at the end of the second, but Port Alberni stayed close the whole way through.

It was an intense game, with both teams playing to win.

Captain Gianni Cormano says it felt surreal to win at home

"Now that it's actually happened, I can't believe it. I'm sure it's gonna set in more as the day goes on, but ....it's awesome!!"

Terrace Assistant Captain Mark Fisher echoed those comments:  "We're bringing this back for the third time in four years, and to do it in your own barn, it's just an unbelieveable feeling -- I can't believe it!!"

In the third-place game earlier, Cranbrook outscored Squamish 5-3.

Meantime, down in Fernie, the Prince Rupert PeeWee Reps continue to roll at the Tier Four PeeWee Championships.

Prince Rupert improved its record to 3-1-and-1 yesterday with a convincing 9-2 victory over 100 Mile House.

The North Coast team is in third place in the round-robin standings, one point behind Kimberley, and those two teams will meet each other this morning at 8, in the final game for both teams.

If Prince Rupert wins, they'll meet North Okanagan for the championship tonight.
