The host Prince Rupert Seawolves had to settle for Silver, as the Provincial Tier-Four Bantam Hockey Championships wrapped up at the Jim Ciccone Arena in Prince Rupert yesterday.
The Seawolves, who were undefeated heading into the game, lost 4-1 to the Windermere Valley Rockies in the Gold/Silver game -- that's the first provincial championship in 22 years for the Invermere Bantams.
Earlier, the Fort St John Flyers won the Bronze Medal, with a 6-2 win over the Prince George Cougars.
Tournament Chair Lisa Pirillo says every team played well and the tournament was terrific.
"It's been a great success. It's been ten years since we've hosted one. It's been amazing, from our opening ceremonies, Tina Mack, Lori Leighton, they did a phenomenol job organizing it. For all the teams, all the teams have been very receptive, just loving everything we've been putting on," she said.
Elsewhere around the province, the Terrace Kermode Bantam Rep team won the Bronze medal at the Tier-Three Bantam Provincials in Port Hardy.
Terrace scored the winning goal with 1:39 left in the third period, to edge Whistler 9-8 yesterday.
Mission won the Gold, defeating the host North Island Eagles 5-2.
In Pee Wee action, Terrace finished the round robin with a 2-and-1 record at the Tier-Three provincials in Powell River, outscoring Whitehorse 6-2 in their last game yesterday -- but they fell short of making the semi-finals.
And at the Tier-Four provincials in Lillooet, Prince Rupert still has one more round robin game to play -- they play this morning (Thursday) against 100-Mile House.
