Two Vehicle Crash Involving Moose Near Moricetown Kills 32-Year-Old Man

A two-vehicle crash near Moricetown, that also involved a moose, has claimed the life of a 32-year-old man.

New Hazelton RCMP say a tractor-trailer unit, heading east, collided with a moose at around 9:30 Friday night, sending the moose into the path of a westbound Dodge pickup truck.

The resulting collision sent the pickup into a ditch where it landed on its roof, trapping the two occupants inside.

The man driving the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, while a female passenger as taken to hospital with serious injuries. 
 
Highway 16 was closed for several hours after the crash. 

Police say the road surface was dry at the time and the weather was partly cloudy. 

The BC Coroners Service and police continue to investigate but do not believe alcohol or speed  played a role in the crash.
