Unifor Members At Rio Tinto In Kitimat/Kemano Take Strike Vote

With a deadline for a new agreement just over a week away, the union representing workers at Rio Tinto's operations at Kitimat and Kemano is conducting a strike vote this week.

In a bulletin posted on its website, Unifor Local 2301 says a second meeting will take place at the Union Hall in Kitimat Friday night, following a Thursday meeting at Mount Elizabeth School.

In an earlier bulletin, the union accused the company of taking an aggressive approach to bargaining, and said it's sticking to its long-held position of no concessions.

A deadline of midnight July 23rd has been set for a new agreement.
