11 AM UPDATE:   Winter storm warning ended for North Coast Inland region......   earlier story below:

----- from earlier this morning -- warning now cancelled ---

A Winter Storm Warning remains in place for much of the northwest today -- specifically the North Coast Inland region.

Environment Canada says hazardous winter conditions are expected to continue today.

Snow has changed to freezing rain and may become mixed with snow before ending this morning.

The weather office says near Kitimat, freezing rain will switch to rain this morning.

Further snowfall accumulations will be slight and a further 5 millimetres freezing rain is expected.

The weather office urges you to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Heavy snowfall accumulation may cause tree branches to break -- utility outages may occur -- and road closures are possible.
