Village of Queen Charlotte Celebrates Launch of Boat Improvement Project
The Village of Queen Charlotte celebrated the opening of their Boat Launch Improvement Project this week.
The project took four years to organize with efforts focused on reinforcing the ramp and creating a docking facility.
The now completed ramp upgrade includes a new lock block breakwater, a concrete ramp and a floating dock structure that is attached to the breakwater, all set with rails.
"The steeper grade makes it easier to launch and keep the truck's brakes dry, and stepping off the floating dock is a lot nicer than climbing over your boat's windshield to get in," said Mayor Greg Martin in a statement.
The previous design was originally built for airplane use and was a simple block which extended onto the water.
The final project cost just under $900,000
