Wings Terrace Owner Amazed By Community Support for Family of Crash Victim
The owner of a Terrace restaurant says he's very thankful for the way the community is rallying to support the family of a local teen who was killed in a weekend car crash.
Evan van Dyk is the owner of Wings Tap and Grill in Terrace, which donated proceeds from cash sales of wings last night to the family of 18-year-old Caitlyn Amyotte, who was a server at the restaurant.
He said the response has been nothing short of incredible.
"The community never ceases to amaze me in times of need for a family and it is just truly a sad time and it's a small ray of light and something nice to see in such a sad time is just the community support -- by Tuesday morning, it had completely evolved into something that I didn't know if we were prepared for -- several hundred people confirmed they were coming and supporting, businesses have been dropping off items to auction off and to raffle," he said.
Van Dyk had closed Wings for a couple of days immediately following the crash to allow staff to grieve, and said it's going to take some time for everyone to properly deal with the tragedy.
