Port of Prince Rupert Holding Annual Public Meeting
The Port of Prince Rupert is holding their annual public meeting Tuesday Evening
The port will be discussing the highlights of 2016 and how it played out for them.
According to their report, there was a slight decrease in total cargo volume from the previous year.
Coal was also down for a third straight year.
Wood pellet exports made a jump again last year and according to the port authority, they saw eight per cent growth in loaded-containers that were exported.
Officials will also talk about becoming more sustainable and report a 13 per cent decrease in port-wide emissions.
While looking ahead to this year, they look forward to the completion of Phase Two of the Fairview Container Terminal expansion.
The construction of the Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal is another project they are happy to see move forward with operations expected to begin in two years.
The meeting takes place in the North Coast Meeting and Convention Centre at Chances from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Officials say they will also live stream the meeting on Facebook and take questions from those who can't make it.
