RCMP Arrest Six Suspects in Relation to Mariners Park Vandalism

RCMP say six suspects have been arrested in relation to the vandalism at Mariners Park in Prince Rupert.

Mounties say the investigation began Wednesday morning when information was first received about offensive words and pictures sprayed painted on the newly installed playground.

While collecting evidence, police got information about a group of youths on top of a vacant building on McBride Street Wednesday afternoon.

The group was arrested for mischief and a large amount of stolen spray paint was found in their possession.

Corporal Devon Gerrits says the incidents are related and the investigation is still in its early stages.

Investigators are still looking for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the park Tuesday night or Wednesday morning to give them a call.
