Ten People Arrested Following a $40,000 Drug Bust in Prince Rupert

About $40,000 worth of drugs are off the streets in Prince Rupert following a drug bust.

Prince Rupert RCMP conducted the search warrant in the 800 block of Lotbiniere Street Tuesday. The street is near Prince Rupert Middle School.

Corporal Devon Gerrits says numerous items were seized and 10 people were arrested for possession for the purpose of drug trafficking.

"About nine ounces of cocaine, 24 grams of crack cocaine, 9.62 ounces of marijuana, 2.5 ounces of marijuana resin, packaging materials, scales, and approximately $7,000."

Cpl. Gerrits says this kind of activity is not welcomed.

"The homes in question are close to a school. We don't tolerate this kind of behaviour. Especially this kind of behaviour when it's close to a school."

The case remains under investigation and Gerrits says no one should hesitate to contact police or Crime Stoppers about suspicious activity or drug activity in the area.
