Whitecaps FC expands to the Northwest

The Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that they are expanding the club's Northern Academy Network to include programs in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Kitimat, in partnership with the local youth soccer associations.

Vice-President of Terrace Youth Soccer Sean Bujtas says he hopes this will open new doors for youth in the area;

"It will give our players more opportunity to play soccer beyond grade 12, hopefully the Whitecaps can help them get noticed, seen by colleges, so hopefully kids can play beyond highschool."

The Whitecaps will be sending a coach to Terrace, who will travel between the three communities and run the high-level coaching academy.

Participation in the Prospects Academy is by invite only, and players must go through an evaluation process to be selected. Evaluations will take place between April 18 and 23, with programs starting in May.
