Some of you may be more familiar with Denis in his other incarnation - as a professional, touring standup comedian who's performed across Canada, and the Middle East, in his 25 plus years as a performer.
More likely, though, you simply recognize him as "that guy I bump into at the hardware store" or "that slow-moving goalie who filled in for our hockey team that one time."
Denis moved to the area in the late 90s from the Ottawa area where he met his wife, Nancy Payne - a magazine editor and born and bred Reaboro farm girl. (Do the math, and you'll learn why he's now a local, eh). They live on a 50-acre property near Dunsford, where they raise chickens - the laying and tasty, eating kind - and ducks. A couple of equally tasty pigs will join the fold soon, he promises. The pet turkey, Connie, competes for attention with the family beagle, Basil. A former scout leader with 1st Lindsay, Denis still volunteers at a Lindsay elementary school. Oh, he and Nancy also have two tall, strapping teenage sons - and, therefore, three chest freezers.
