Tasting Our Way Through #HamOnt
Hamilton is in the middle of a renaissance; a delicious, yummy, drool-worthy renaissance. So what better way to experience some of the best culinary stops that HamOnt has to offer than by touring the city for 8 hours on a limo bus?
On Thursday February 9th, our Morning Show team was joined by tripcentral.ca, Hamilton's top foodies, and our experienced food bloggers on a celebration of Hamilton. (And we can't stress it enough that these need to become your new go-to stops for culinary delights.)

Now ... are you ready for us to take you through our day?
Stop #1: Jonny Blonde
664 Concession St, Hamilton, ON L8V 5C2
8am – 3pm, Monday - Saturday
The perfect wake-me-up; lattes, cookies, scones, Spanish crepes... and Maple Bacon Butter Tarts. (You heard us.. Maple. Bacon.) Did we mention that he'll be the chef that will accompany Sunni and Hayes and our winners to El Dorado Royale Spa & Resort in Riviera Maya? After tasting the delicious treats Jonny and his team had baked up for us, he then joined us on the rest of our food tour.
Stop #2: Mattson & Co.
225 Locke St S, Hamilton, ON L8P 4B6
11am – 10pm, Monday – Wednesday
11am – 12am, Thursday – Saturday
10am – 9pm, Sunday
We walked in to an amazing table set up; deliciously fruity drinks to sip while enjoying a wonderfully displayed charcuterie board at each table. After sipping and munching away, we were presented with braised beef that gives the phrase ‘fall-off-the-bone’ new meaning.
Stop #3: Brux House
137 Locke St S, Hamilton, ON L8P 4A7
12pm – 12am, Tuesday - Saturday
Talk about a great space! Brux House covered all of their bases – breadsticks to die for, a cauliflower dish that dreams are made of, tater tots to make Matt Hayes and Mike Nabuurs’ love for them even stronger, and more! We got to taste all of these creations while the bartenders mixed up cocktails for us (shaken not stirred, of course).
Stop #4: Berkeley North
31 King William St, Hamilton, ON L8R 1A1
5pm – 9pm, Tuesday
12pm – 9pm, Wednesday & Thursday
12pm – 10pm, Friday
11:30am – 3pm & 5pm – 10pm, Saturday
11:30am – 3pm, Sunday
This is one of the places we were very excited to visit. Still in its infancy, Berkeley North is only 4 months old but making quite the name for itself as a pescatarian restaurant. During the relatively busy lunch hour, one of the owners seated us and explained what we would be eating and drinking. Have you ever had kombucha? Neither had some of us. If you’re someone who can try something and not want to Google what it’s made of, then this is the drink for you! Others had freshing in-house juices made from pineapple, cucumber, citrus, carrots, etc to enjoy with our raw tuna, shrimp salad, and dim sum.
Stop #5: The French
37 King William St, Hamilton, ON L8R 1A1
11:30am – 10:30pm, Monday – Friday
10am – 3pm & 4pm – 10:30pm, Saturday
10am – 3pm & 4pm – 9:30pm, Sunday
What a spread! An array of gourmet cheeses and toppings were presented to us as we walked into the heart of The French, along with gin cocktails and their mushroom gnocchi. Who can say gno to gnocchi? We certainly can’t! Especially when you've just tasted a delicious chicken pate.
Stop #6: La Piazza Allegra
180 James St S, Hamilton, ON L8P 4V1
11:30am – 10pm, Monday – Friday
4:30pm – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday
Mmm.. ravioli. And what goes better with ravioli than wine? Answer: nothing. We walked into La Piazza and there was no better place that could be our second last stop of the day. The darker interior perfectly matched a dinner mood while we sipped on delicious Pinot.
Stop #7: Baci Ristorante
1530 Stone Church Rd E, Hamilton, ON L8W 3P9
7am – 9pm, Monday – Thursday, Sunday
7am – 10pm, Friday & Saturday
Our final stop of the day and it couldn’t have been more perfect. What better way to celebrate National Pizza Day than by tasting delicious in-house pizza? We watched the chef twirl the dough in the air to produce fluffy yet crispy pie covered in fresh produce with a delectable sauce. Did we mention the arancini and stromboli? Three words: Oh. My. Goodness.
Truer words have never been spoken.
