Kathleen Wynne comments on fed pot plans in Niagara-on-the-Lake

The Premier of Ontario reacting to a plan to tax legal weed while taking part in a 'Fireside Chat' in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Kathleen Wynne talked to reporters at the Ontario Economic Summit at White Oaks Resort hours after the Federal Government announced its proposed federal tax scheme.

The feds want to add an excise tax of one-dollar per gram or 10 per cent of the final retail price, whichever is higher -- in addition to the G-S-T.

The revenues are to be divided equally between Ottawa and the provinces.

Wynne says that proposal will not work since the provinces and municipalities are incurring the cost of legal cannabis.

She says more discussion on the plan will need to take place.

The proposal will be available for public comment until December 7th.
