Petition calls for Premier to get colonoscopy without sedation

More than 53,000 people have signed a petition calling on Premier Doug Ford to lead the way and get the first colonoscopy without sedation.

The petition was sparked by reports of potential cuts to OHIP, including MRI's for knee problems in middle aged people, diabetes management, and sedation during colonoscopies.

In all, government documents estimate about 30 percent of medical services are unnecessary and inappropriate as the provincial Tories fight to lower the province's deficit.

Government officials will only say it will continue to put patients at the centre of the discussion.
