Police say man made fake 911 call to get faster service for missing cellphone

A Burlington man has been arrested after making a false 911 call.

Around 7:45 p.m. last night the man called Halton Regional Police, saying a woman had been shot at the home.

Police and EMS raced to the scene, but when they arrived they discovered no one had been shot.

27 year old Zach Gerdes has been arrested and charged with public mischief and conveying a false message.

Police believe Gerdes made the 911 call to get quicker service in regards to a report of a missing cellphone.
