Union: Unfortunate lockout not lifted before talks resumed
CUPE says its unfortunate the City of Bathurst didn't lift the lockout before sitting back down at the negotiating table.
About twenty inside city workers were locked out on July 25th after 20 months of talks reached an impasse.
Though talks resumed on Monday with the help of a provincially appointed mediator, CUPE's Simon Ouellette says the workers are still without pay while negotiations continue.
Union representative Guy DeSilva meanwhile, says he doesn't believe the dispute will be resolved overnight and that members don't know what to expect so are preparing for anything.
Wages are at the heart of the dispute.
