NB Power begins testing to explore possibility of building another generating station in Grand Falls
NB Power has begun testing to explore the possibility of building a second generating station in Grand Falls.
It says it has begun field studies as well as discussions with First Nations and area residents about a new 100-megawatt generating station beside the existing station.
It says that will form the basis for an Environmental Impact Assessment application it plans to submit later this year.
N-B Power says the second unit at Grand Falls has the potential to help it meet its long-term clean energy requirements, with 40 per cent of its in-province electricity sales to come from renewable sources by 2020.
