Upgrades coming to Route 108 this year

The province says it will make major investments on a key road connecting Grand Falls and Plaster Rock.

Carleton-Victoria MLA Andrew Harvey announced Thursday that there are several projects planned for Route 108 this year.

They include paving a 4.7-kilometre section in the Plaster Rock area, between routes 385 and 109, and a 1.4-kilometre section between Grand Falls and Drummond.

Other work includes grading and paving in the railway crossing area, and grading between the railway crossing and Route 395.

Harvey made the announcement on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser.

The province said it will spend more than $217 million on New Brunswick highways in 2017-18.
