Nile Rodgers and Chic are giving 600 tickets away to their upcoming show near Washington, D.C. to federal workers affected by the U.S. government shutdown.

“Like many people, I’m frustrated by what’s happening and my heart goes out to these incredibly hard-working people who provide important service to our country, yet have had their lives, disrupted by circumstances, not of their doing,” Rodgers said, in a statement.

“I believe music has a tremendous power and this is a small gesture I can make to provide some joy and healing.”

Workers can register online and the first 300 will receive a pair of tickets to the Jan. 26 show at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

Rodgers, who will appear on Season 2 of CTV’s The Launch, is touring with Chic in support of their new album It’s About Time. The group is opening for Cher on April 22 in Toronto and April 24 in Ottawa.
