Orillia Perch Festival, update from Festival HQ
According to Doug Bunker from the Orillia Chamber of Commerce, the perch are becoming very active - and there are many anglers out looking for the 70 tagged perch worth $500 each, and two worth $1,000 each.
The first tagged perch was brought into Perch HQ at Tudhope Park on Saturday - Dominik Lukachko from Mississauga caught the K. Winters Sanitation $500 tagged perch.
Tagged perch number two was brought in by Malcolm Green from Lindsay. His $500 tag was sponsored by the Federation of Anglers and Hunters. The OFAH had a special offer that if an angler caught their tagged perch and was a Federation member, they would double the prize to $1,000. Malcolm's father is a member, but unfortunately Malcolm was not. An OFAH membership is $25 and offers many benefits.
Tagged perch number three 3 was caught mid afternoon May 4 by Will Spear from Orillia. Will's $500 tagged perch was sponsored by 104.1 The Dock radio station - and it was caught off a dock! Coincidence? We don't think so.
There's still $36,500. worth of Tagged Perch out in the lakes waiting to be caught!
You can register at Orillia Champber of Commerce Perch Festival HQ at Tudhope Park, Trombly's Tackle Box, and Blue Beacon Marina.
