Distracted Driving Campaign Continues

The Ontario Provincial Police (Sudbury Detachment) would like to remind the public that the Distracted Driving Campaign continues and will continue over the weekend.

Anyone found to be holding or using a hand-held electronic entertainment device or a wireless communication device, while operating a motor vehicle on a highway, will face a fine of $1000, three demerit points and a three day driver's licence suspension. The penalties increase with subsequent offences.

Novice drivers in the graduated licencing system, face longer licence suspensions.

Every driver has a responsibility to direct their entire attention to driving safely.

Drivers should put their cell phones and other electronic hand-held devices out of reach to avoid any temptation in using or holding these items while driving.
