Sudbury FIVE To Face St. John's Edge In Opening Round Of The Playoffs

With a London Lightning victory Friday night, the Five will finish the team’s inaugural season ranked third in the Central Division, setting up a first-round playoff match-up against the St. John’s Edge.

The Edge finished their second season in the NBL Canada ranked second in the Central Division with 21 wins and 19 losses. Both the Five and the Edge finished with identical records to end the season, however the Edge gained the advantage in the head-to-head tiebreaker, winning two of the three contests between the two teams this season.

The Edge were led this season by guard Dez Lee. Lee averaged 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, starting in all 40 games for the Edge this season. The Edge roster also features NBA Champion Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis. Davis played in 29 games this season, averaging 16.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his first year in the NBL Canada.

The Five finished the season with the league’s best offense, averaging 113.1 points per game. Guard Braylon Rayson finished the regular season as the league’s top scorer, averaging 25.1 points per game. Rayson, the second-year pro from Dallas, TX also set the record for most three-pointers in a season, finishing the season with 149.

The Five and the Edge will begin their first round series April 5th in St. John’s for two games on the East Coast. The team’s will then head to Sudbury April 10th for the first ever NBL Canada playoff game in Sudbury. The complete first round playoff schedule is as follows:
