Local company fined for violating Occupational Health and Safety Act in relation to workplace death

Saint-Isidore Asphalt has been ordered to pay a fine in relation to the workplace death of one of its subcontractors in October of 2014.

James Baker drowned at the Caraquet bypass construction site after equipment he was operating overturned.

The company pleaded guilty to violating New Brunswick's Occupational Health and Safety Act back in December.

Saint-Isidore Asphalt has one month to pay the $25,875 fine.
